Fixing What's Broken, One Problem at a Time

My food stamps have just been cut by one third. Why? Because Social Services doesn't think I paid enough on my medical bills because I had to buy test strips, pay property taxes, renew vehible license, buy sump pump, change oil, buy garden seed..............all of which Social Services doesn't allow for. What was I to do? Let my basement fill with water? Not pay my taxes? I get $735 a month, social security. That's it. Food stamps do not cover my grocery needs at $200 a month. Now, I've been cut back to $135. All because I could not pay very much on old medical bills, the only allowable expense.

Meanwhile, we have investment bankers conferencing in Lake Tahoe, hunting in Briton, gambling the stock market with the Bailout dollars. Now I know the government knows how to force people to be accountable. Why is it that only the poor must turn in receipts?

This is why we are in another DEPRESSION! a word the media likes to avoid like poison. They can even formulate the word, recession. There is no results from the Bailout; the Stimulus doesn't effectively stimulate. What is to be done? Out with the old, and in with the new, that's what I say. They give $700 billion dollars to the investment bankers, with absolutely no accountability. Then they deduct $65 dollars from my food stamps to offset the debt!

Why worry about the $65 dollars, while letting the $700 billion go? No one in Washington can seem to figure that out. It's simple. Turn the debt over to Social Services; they're pretty good at making poor people accountable. I'd have them get after those bankers. Garnish and reposess and auction. It's not hard.

I'll be running as an Independant. Or you can just write in, Janis Schmidt.
